Hello... Roger Burke here.
Thanks for dropping in to find out about this student version of
Roger’s Reference, our dictionary of English homonyms and homophones...
I've received many, many emails - from July 2000 onwards - from parents and students wanting help with homonyms and homophones. So, as a response to those enquiries, this student edition is now available.
Books are relatively expensive, I know. Thankfully, I now have only one student at school, so my costs are decreasing... at last!
That's why this dictionary is now available, at a price that anybody can afford: the e-book is now FREE!
Moreover, for your purposes, a dictionary with
every
homophone and homonym is probably not necessary... there are, after all, some very obscure and exotic words.
Now, it has over 3400 of the most common homophones and homonyms and it has a word list included, for quick reference. So, you'll have the homonyms and homophones you'll need, for some of those pesky projects your teachers have in mind for you...
Moreover, this e-book also contains all those
Commonly Confused Words -- you know, the ones you love to hate... It's for those who often confuse certain words, abbreviations and combination words, with others. Such words sound alike, but not the same;
so they are not homophones, in the strict sense of the word.
For example, some may confuse "WHERE" and "WE'RE", the second being a shortened version of "WE ARE". Many people are continually stopped by "ITS" and "IT'S". And, of course, "AFFECT" and "EFFECT", and similar words, are continual problems for many.
So... don't wait any longer.
